CATRIONA MACLEOD

Hello!

I'm Catriona, a writer, director and singer proudly from the Isle of Mull. I am making theatre and film, singing Sad Girl Jazz, and I live in Glasgow.

This year I knuckled down to write Blast Off, Starburst, originally titled I Feel Love developed through The Tron's LabWeek with support from NTS and Playwrights' Studio Scotland. It's a play about grief and the universe exploring loss through theories of astrophysics as seen through a child's eyes. Stay tuned for more on that...

I also co-founded Gaun Yersel' Workshop, a new workshop hub for actors and theatre makers in Glasgow. Myself and actors + facilitators Morgan Woods and Becca Dunn wanted to create a playful space where creatives could experiment with text in a constructive but informal setting, and we focus on peer feedback and skills sharing every month.

I am also currently working on indie feature film Empty House as Production Coordinator / Script Supervisor, joining writer/director Harry Aspinwall and producer Joel Hewitt of Fingerclick Productions. We shot in rural Scotland this September.

Most recently, I was appointed Vanishing Point's Associate Director and made SPIN! as part of their Unplugged programme. The show - made specifically for rural venues - sold out The Tron Theatre before touring Scotland in spring, picking up four star reviews along the way.

More of the same, please.
I'm also the award-winning cabaret artist formerly known as Cat Loud (yes, the Cat Loud, don't make me sing!) I wrote, performed, directed and produced solo cabaret shows for five years, and worked as a gigging jazz singer for another two. I loved it, and it was a riot.
Everything I write borders on the surreal and tries not to take itself too seriously. (I made a show about a smart washing machine, I rest my case.)
It's an exciting and terrifying time to be trying to make art, but here we are.

Please get in touch if you'd like to have a peek at my full CV and for any work enquiries.
